Professor Renate Ortlieb
Professor Renate Ortlieb has been Professor of Human Resources and Head of the Institute for Human Resources Policy at the University of Graz since 2009. She studied business administration at the Technical University of Berlin (BBA, 1995) and obtained her PhD (2002) and habilitation (2009) at the Free University of Berlin. She has held positions at the Universities of Konstanz, Essen and Flensburg, as well as at the Free University of Berlin.
Research and teaching visits have taken Renate Ortlieb to, amongst others, the University of Brighton (UK), Hasselt University (Belgium), the University of Waterloo (Canada) and the Stockholm School of Economics. From 2013 to 2015, she was Chair of the Academic Commission on Human Resources (WK PERS) within the Association of University Lecturers in Business Administration (VHB). Among other honours, she has been awarded the Käthe Leichter Prize for Women’s Studies, Gender Studies and Equality in the Workplace, as well as the Seraphine Puchleitner Recognition Prize.
Renate Ortlieb’s current research interests include the labour market integration of refugees, the interplay between HR strategies and labour migration, and gender and diversity in organisations. She is co-editor of the German Journal of Human Resource Management, a member of several editorial boards, and has published in journals such as Academy of Management Discoveries, the British Journal of Industrial Relations, the Journal of Organizational Behaviour, Organization, Organization Studies and Work, Employment and Society.
